Tim S. Gitzel
Cameco is one of the world’s largest uranium producers, helping to generate clean electricity in nuclear energy plants around the world. Tim Gitzel was appointed CEO of Cameco in 2011. He joined Cameco in 2007 as Senior Vice-President and CEO and was appointed President in 2010. Mr. Gitzel has extensive experience in Canadian and international uranium mining activities through more than 20 years of senior management and legal experience. Prior to joining Cameco, he was Executive Vice-President at AREVA based in Paris, France, with responsibility for global uranium, gold, exploration, and decommissioning operations in 11 countries. He also served as President and CEO for AREVA’s Canadian subsidiary. Mr. Gitzel currently serves on the boards of the Washington-based Nuclear Energy Institute and the Mosaic Company. He is Past Chair of the World Nuclear Association and has served on the boards of the Mining Association of Canada and the Canadian Nuclear Association.
