Through our programs, we provide timely, relevant, and high-quality information, analysis, and insights on the issues driving and defining Canada’s engagement with the Indo-Pacific, as well as opportunities for direct exchange of ideas, perspectives, and policy recommendations – both within Canada and between Canada and the Indo-Pacific.
Programs
Strategic Dialogues & Roundtables
We facilitate dialogues among leaders from government, business, and academia on pressing policy issues. These dialogues deepen trust, foster partnerships, and help develop innovative solutions to shared challenges.
Recent and planned dialogues include: the Canada-Philippines Track 1.5 dialogue (December 2024, Ottawa), South Korea (December 2024, Ottawa and Seoul), India (February 2025, New Delhi), and the Canada-Taiwan Dialogue (February 2025, Taipei).
Indo-Pacific Fellowship Program
This program provides fellowships to experts from the Indo-Pacific, fostering in-depth research on key issues impacting Canada and the Indo-Pacific region. The program builds bridges between scholars, enhances understanding, and informs policy discussions.
In 2024-2025, eight scholars have been selected for this program.
Indo-Pacific Young Leaders Program
We select 12-15 early-career professionals (aged 25-40) from various Indo-Pacific jurisdictions for this program, which introduces them to Canada’s Indo-Pacific Strategy and connects them with relevant experts and organizations across the country.
Education
Our educational initiatives expand Canadians’ understanding of the Indo-Pacific region through resources, curricula, and occasional events.
APEC-Canada Growing Business Partnership
This project addresses key challenges faced by micro, small, and medium enterprises and aspiring entrepreneurs from APEC developing economies, including Indonesia, Malaysia, Peru, Thailand, and Vietnam.
