Canada and India in a Shifting Global Order: A Discussion with Dr. Raja Mohan

Dr. Raja Mohan, APF Canada’s inaugural Indo-Pacific Visiting Scholar, took part in an insightful discussion on Canada-India economic and diplomatic relations on March 24, 2025, at the Université de Montréal.   

In the first event in a series of engagements across Canada, hosted under our new Indo-Pacific Fellowship Programs banner, Dr. Mohan discussed the challenges presented by Trump 2.0 and the potential opportunities for co-operation between Canada and India based on shared interests such as trade, energy security, emerging technologies, maritime security, and the Indo-Pacific.  

In his opening remarks (with an introduction by APF Canada Vice-President Research & Strategy Vina Nadjibulla) and fireside chat with Yann Roche, Co-Director for the Chair in Asian and Indo-Pacific Studies and Full Professor at UQAM, Dr. Mohan also discussed the connection between economic diversification and regional security when it comes to developing dynamic partnerships in the Indo-Pacific region  He highlighted the need for multilateral institutions and collaborative global governance amidst a constantly shifting geopolitical environment.
