Indo-Pacific Young Leaders

Indo-Pacific Young Leaders

The Indo-Pacific Young Leaders Program is an integral part of the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada’s broader effort to strengthen Canada’s engagement, relevance, and networks in the region, with funding support provided by the Government of Canada. This program fosters connections with approximately 12-15 next-generation leaders (aged 25-40) from the Indo-Pacific region by providing them with the opportunity to:

  • Engage in a one-week familiarization visit to Canada; participants will meet with government officials, industry leaders, and experts to learn about Canada’s engagement with the Indo-Pacific and discuss topics such as regional security, innovation, emerging technology, space, energy security, sustainable development, and other issues.

  • Participate in APF Canada events held in the Indo-Pacific region, such as the annual Canada-in-Asia Conference in Singapore, or similar events.

  • Attend virtual monthly briefings on topics relevant to Canada and its engagement with the Indo-Pacific, including those identified in Canada’s Indo-Pacific Strategy.

The 2025 cohort includes participants from Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Mongolia, the Philippines, and Taiwan.
